3103 H12 Cold Drawn Aluminum Alloy Tubing For Radiator Extruded Aluminum Tube
Product Description:
What is aluminum extruded?
A material is extruded, whether it be aluminum or another material, when it is forced through a die to create a cross-sectional bar.Despite having a number of steps, the method is actually pretty straightforward.A manufacturer or designer must first develop a die to produce the extruded bar's ultimate outside dimension.
What is cold finished aluminum?
While a cold finish is carried out at room temperature, an extrusion is normally carried out at a high temperature when the aluminum is more easily produced.Cold finishing results in very small tolerances for the outside diameter.Drawing is the most popular kind of cold finishing.
When producing aluminum bars, drawing also employs a die to minimize material diameter. A smaller diameter bar end is used, and it is inserted into the draw die before being pulled through with grippers. While drawing can be done at high temperatures, it is often done at room temperature.
The flow and stretch of the aluminum determine how the cold finishing turns out. The material undergoes work hardening during the material reduction process, changing its mechanical and physical characteristics. This enhances the bar stock's surface polish as well.
Features:
What are the differences between extruded and cold finished aluminum?
The primary advantage of standard aluminum extrusions is that it is much easier working with the aluminum at higher temperatures. This equates to faster production speeds and why extruded bar is typically less expensive than cold finished product. Faster production also makes for shorter lead times to market.
The reduction process involved in cold finished production produces tighter dimensional tolerances, a benefit when using the close-fitting collets in today’s high-speed precision CNC machining centers. It also elevates the mechanical and physical properties of the material; this increases the machinability and produces smaller chips during machining that break away from the cutting tool’s work area faster.
There is a long list of benefits for aluminum bar that are shared by both products.

Applications:
While extruded aluminum is extremely common in a wide range of applications, it is not suitable for everything. Any requirement for elevated properties may turn toward cold finished product as raw material. Aerospace and defense products requiring high strength often specify cold finished bar, as well as a host of automotive applications.
